Title: SQL Analyst & Report Writer
Location: Portland, OR
Full Description:
Typical Project Responsibilities
Gain understanding of our clients' data by interviewing subject matter experts, querying data, analyzing existing reports and applications, etc.
Meet with end users to determine report requirements and identify ways in which reports can solve business problems for them
Create stored procedures and SQL statements to populate reports
Design and create reports, with an emphasis on highly understandable layouts and good visual design principles
Develop report distribution strategies, including scheduled email distribution, on-demand report generation, caching of reports, etc.
Perform ad hoc analyses on a variety of specialized business issues, including pricing strategy, demand forecasting, inventory management, ordering statistics, etc.
Train users and co-workers on SQL best practices and techniques.

Relevant degree
Minimum 1-2 years reporting experience
Knowledge of relational data models, data modeling, database programming, and SQL
Solid testing skills, in order to test the accuracy of reports developed
Strong business analysis and critical thinking skills to assess reporting needs/requirements and determine appropriate course of action (for example, utilizing an existing template) to meet requirements
Ability to communicate well verbally, to meet with users and discuss their data, reporting needs and requirements
Ability to write clearly, to create technical documentation regarding the design, development, testing and maintenance processes and procedures related to report development activities.
Secondary Qualifications
The following skills and experience are helpful, but not necessary. Please apply even if you do not meet these criteria.
Experience with Supply Chain logistics, Pharmaceuticals, or the Healthcare industry
Experience with ETL tools, (for example, SQL Server DTS and SSIS)
Front-end programming languages (VB.Net, C#, VBA, etc.) and environments (Windows Forms, VB Forms, MS Access, etc.)
Web development experience (ASP classic, ASP.Net, PHP, JSP)
Additional Requirements
You will need to complete online tests to demonstrate competency in Analytical Thinking, and SQL
You will need to clear a criminal background investigation (required by our clients)
You must provide documentation showing that you are legally authorized to work in the United States.
